Installation

The Robida collective inhabits the small village of Topolò/Topolove (Grimacco, Udine). Its situated learning practice is documented by numerous projects in print, sound recording, and videos, and by the outcomes of artistic and non-artistic workshops. The installation exhibited here gathers an heterogeneous documentation of its activities in Topolò and in the relational exchanges they carried out over the years. Visitors are invited to enter the installation to discover the materials on display, with a question: is it possible to conceive of new ways to inhabit a space together—and to realize them—that are not in conflict with the wellness of the planet?

Robida is a cultural association and collective based in Topolò/Topolove (Grimacco), a small village of 25 inhabitants in the province of Udine, on the border between Friuli Venezia Giulia and Slovenia. The collective works with a multidisciplinary approach on various projects rooted in Topolò, or taking the village as a starting point for reflections and practices. Robida is active between the fields of publishing and spatial practices: for over ten years, Robida has published a multilingual magazine, Robida magazine, operated a community radio station, and organized projects and actions of care for the nature-culture surrounding Topolò. It also organizes an Academy of Margins, constantly investigating new ways of inhabiting the village and its landscape. In 2022, Robida was awarded the New European Bauhaus Prize for the project Topolò/Topolove: The Village as House.
