Pol Esteve Castelló e Gerard Ortín Castellví

Cold Route, 2023
Video 4K, color, sound, 13 min.

What are the relationships between food logistics and climate change? The video takes the audience along the cold chain, on a journey during which perishable products are moved from the Iberian Peninsula towards the north. Once picked up, fruits and vegetables are immediately moved both in industrial manufacturing plants and photographic studios, as part of a process of continuous physical and visual movement.

Pol Esteve Castelló is an architect, researcher and teacher whose work combines historical research and artistic speculation across text, performance and installation. Their projects have been supported by institutions including ArkDes, Vitra Design Museum, Matadero Madrid, Theatrum Mundi and CCCB. They recently presented a large-scale installation at CA2M in Madrid exploring nocturnality. Esteve co-founded GOIG architecture studio, winner of a FAD Award in 2021. They are a PhD candidate at The Bartlett (UCL) researching nightclubs and the experience economy, and currently teach at the Architectural Association and ETH Zurich. Their practice explores space, technology and the body.

Gerard Ortín Castellví is an artist, filmmaker and researcher based in London. He earned an MFA from the Sandberg Instituut (Amsterdam) and an MA in Artists’ Film and Moving Image from Goldsmiths, University of London, where he is currently a PhD candidate. His work has been shown in places like Tate Modern (London), Eye Filmmuseum (Amsterdam), Whitechapel Gallery (London), Fundació Joan Miró (Barcelona), Centre Georges Pompidou (Paris), Anthology Film Archives (New York), and Venice Architecture Biennale (Venice), as well as in festivals.
